Chassis
Chassis and underside
Hilux chassis corrosion is well known, especially on vehicles used near the coast or on salted roads. Clear photos of the underside, front to back, help us value fairly first time.
This is what we look at on every used Hilux, and what is worth telling us, so your offer is right first time.

Engine
Tell us about smoke, rough running, knocking or warning lights. D-4D engines can need injector work, and later models have a DPF that does not like short trips.
Drivetrain
Tell us if the clutch slips, the gearbox is noisy or the four-wheel drive will not engage. Towing and field work are expected.
Body
Bed wear is normal on a working Hilux. A hardtop, roller cover or tow bar can add value, so tell us what is fitted.
Spec
Tell us the cab, the trim and extras like leather, sat nav or upgraded wheels.
History
Regular servicing helps. Mention big jobs like a new clutch, injectors or chassis repairs.
